Glencoe Pl

10 November 2011 - 01:28 PM

Glencoe is a abandoned apartment complex that is hidden and even people that live nearby are unaware of its presence. The apartments are extremely dangerous to be in to the extensive damages and the floors are rotted out, almost lost my partner since he nearly fell thru the 2nd story floor. I walked over the area first, but he did the same and almost went completely thru.

All the floors and buildings were the same, so I didn't get alot of pics.

Crosley Radio is a manufacturer of antique reproductions of the crosley brand of radio, record player, turntable, phonograph, cd player, antique telephones and antique reproductions of music boxes. Many of our current designs are authentic reproductions of the models originally designed by Powell Crosley.
In 1920, Powel Crosley, an auto accessories manufacturer in Cincinnati, OH, set out to purchase a simple radio set for his son. Shocked to learn that these sets were selling for $130.00 or more, he decided to build one himself, which he did â€" for $35.00. From that experience, Crosley went on to build one of the most successful electronics companies of the early 20th century.

1920 Crosley's first radio was a crystal Set named "Harko", introduced as the first low priced radio at $20.00 retail, it later sold for $9.00. A roaring success, the Harco was recognized for making radio available to the masses and earned Powel Crosley a reputation as "The Henry Ford of Radio".

1921 Crosley's first radio broadcast was 8XY.

1922 Crosley received license in March for WLW Radio Station. Crosley was the largest radio manufacturer in the world.

1922 WLW was among the first regular scheduled radio stations on the air starting in January. Â A total of only 28 stations were in operation throughout the U.S.

1923 Crosley radio station reached 500,000 watts, the most powerful station in the world.

1925 Crosley designed its own airplane called the "Moonbeam".

1927 The Crosley Corporation nets over $3 million in profits on $18 million in sales, making it the number one radio manufacturer in the world.

1930 Crosley was the first radio station to broadcast from an airplane. Crosley entered the National Air Race from the West Coast to Chicago, broadcasting from the plane across the country.

1930 First car radio called the Crosley "Roamio" was introduced by Crosley.

1934 WLW began broadcasting what is now known as "soap operas".

1937 WLW merchandised to 345 mid-western cities by radio.

1939 Crosley introduced the first small car in the world. First car with disc brakes.

1939 Crosley started TV broadcasting in Cincinnati, Ohio.

1940 WLW became the first station with its own full-time weatherman.

1940 Crosley introduced first FAX machine called "Reado".

1941 WLW started broadcasting radio programs from its own farm which became known as "Everybody's Farm".

1943 The Crosley transmitter, during World War II, became the nation's propaganda station with its 500,000 watts that could be heard in many parts of the world.

1946 Crosley's first regular TV station began regularly scheduled telecasting.

1947 Crosley began a regularly scheduled telecast of 20 hours a week. First baseball game to be broadcast on TV.

1948 Crosley WLW-TV became the first NBC-TV affiliate.

1954 Crosley pioneered the first TV portable which became the best selling set in the industry.

1957 Crosley WLW began telecasting color programs. Crosley's own Cincinnati Reds baseball team became the first sports program ever broadcast in color.

The ** Distillery

29 September 2011 - 10:46 AM

This Distillery is located in a very beautiful and rural part of Northern Kentucky, I was amazed to see so much intact and hasn't had any fire damage, therefore I will not name the distillery or give its location in order to preserve this historic site.

I arrived at around 2:45PM and it took 5 hours & 10min to get through the entire 82 acre site. There are roughly 10 buildings on site with the creek running behind the massive complex. There is another distillery that is in operation next door to this defunct location. It got dark around 7:50PM and had to call it quits, unfortunately I only had 1 day to do this, but am sure I can revisit in the near future.

Now on to some promo pics til I sort em out.

*Emergency sign posted on different buildings*

*The open-air Peristyle with carved limestone columns and ionic capitals, surrounds the key to the distillery’s world-famous bourbon, the crystal clear spring, which was the distillery’s water supply. Appropriately, the spring reservoir was built in the shape of a large key-hole.*

*I was going to climb this tower to get a pic of the entire complex, however it was dark by the time I was nearly done, so I didn't get to*

Posted Image

*There were 2 High wine tanks and 2 low wine tanks in the castle*

*Some buildings were inaccessible, this was a massive building*

Posted Image

*This went over the road, not sure what it was*

Posted Image

*When the Distillery shut down back in the 70's, a new company took over and had a "mall" where people could buy crafts and whatnot, also was the painted castle on the wall.*
