As of late we have been smacked hard by spammers. This has caused me to change the way the registration of new members is handled.

If you are a new member registering you will still get a validation email, but your account will need to be reviewed by an admin and manually approved. I look at the admin queue several times a day, so you won't have to wait long for approval if you're legit.
