Hahahaha, you're all much too kind and slightly delusional! I'm just some random butthole with a penchant for cheap-ass cameras and cheap-ass beers!
I'm gonna get what's comin' to me one day...
These days my life is empty,
Hard times for the son-of-a-bitch!

i couldn't agree more, ed. i work with mentally and/or physically disabled children and it is definently not something to be made light of. chain's right though, especially the people who own pennhurst now. the company that i work for had something set up verbally with the current owners (who do the haunted house) about doing a fundraiser there to help some of our kids who have no health insurance, sort of a "pennhurst makes ammends." the people who own the place, after agreeing to do a fundraiser, backed out at the meeting to sign the papers, because they weren't going to get paid. the word fundraiser by definition means you aren't exactly going to get paid. it is indeed a travesty.

I'm not going to see it. Pennhurst was a State School for children with developmental disabilities of all kinds, not just mental. A good portion of those kids were orphaned because of their problems and were abused and neglected at the school. The movie is making it out to be some kind of haunted, murderous insane asylum but it was bascially an orphanage for kids with handicaps. It makes me sick that some movie company is going to make money from the sadness and misery of thousands of unfortunate children and their miserable, lonely lives locked up in that school. They deserve better.
Here's a video expose' done by a local NBC Philadelphia news crew in 1968, entitled "Suffer the Little Children".
The real story of Pennhurst should be known. What's going on there now between the haunted-house attraction and the new movie is a Goddamned travesty.

To Ed and Mira... it is sad how society or rather more so corporations expose the defenseless aspects of society for a sheer dollar, for greed. Instead of helping out or contributing to a greater cause and good, they take those travesties and make a mockery out of them.
