I found this site looking for some abandoned locations in northern Illinois. I never really had a big interest in abandoned places until recently. I watched Session 9 for the first time a few months back and fell in love with the asylum in it. I really love photography and figured it would be awesome to be able to photograph a place like that. I did some research on abandoned places in Illinois and it turns out there's a ton of cool ones. I've mainly just been collecting data on nearby places, but I doubt I'll go to most of them. I've also been using a combination of google earth and driving scouting missions to look for places in/near my hometown. I've actually found a few places that look promising, mostly farms. Last weekend I went to the most promising on my list as my first abandoned venture. It was a lot of fun and I think I got some cool pictures out of it. I'll post it up later. Anyway, I look forward to meeting the community and seeing your discoveries.

Welcome!
Now you can tear a building down, but you can't erase a memory
These houses may look all run down, but they have a value you can't see
