There's this park here in O'Fallon that half of it used to be abandoned. Westhoff park is the name of it, and it's right next to my old elementary school. There was a basketball court that was abandoned (though teenagers still used it in 1998-2000, the years that I went to the school. I remember seeing them play basketball at recess.) and right across the yard was an abandoned handball court. (It was abandoned way before the basketball court, though i'm not sure how long. I moved here in 1998.) Last summer my gf and I went on a picnic at the park and I told her about the handball court. So she drove to the other side of the park, and we walked up to it. I've always wanted to see what was on the other side of it, cause when I was a kid I almost made it to the back of the wall, but I got in trouble because I didn't know we couldn't go over there. :V I touched it, and explored every inch of it. Sadly I didn't have a camera, otherwise I would have taken pics. :( She wanted to leave quick, especially since there was a woman in a car that stopped a few feet from where my gf parked and was looking at her plates, so we did. I just found out that last month they opened a new playground and paved a new parking lot in the same area where the basketball court and handball court was, so they're both gone. >.>

Bummer.

:(
Now you can tear a building down, but you can't erase a memory
These houses may look all run down, but they have a value you can't see

He thrusts his fisted camera high
As he yells out his battle cry
His voice is strong and true
"REMEMBER THE GRANDVIEW!!!!"
