Did you happen to read the announcement at the top of every state forum?

I've lived in the North Shore all my life, and I can honestly say that all the good places have been demolished/renovated (Danvers, Met State, Taunton and all the factories near me). As soon as I hear of something,(which isn't often) I hit it asap because developers are buying then up while land is cheap and hoping to recover their investments when the economy picks up. And also, this is an open forum. I'm not gonna post rumors of places I want to explore here and have some fuck-wit light it up or do something to tighten security, especially when places around here are harder to find. I HATE sounding like one of those elitists UE-snobs, but you need to earn your way into the family before we give out locations or ways in. You don't need to painfully go through loops (ie have your pics judged for "coolness" or be chaperoned on explorations, ect....) like other UE-sites. You just need to be part of conversations in forums. Everyone here is really cool. Everyone is VERY approachable nor do they have any attitudes. Please understand that we are a bit standoffish when an unfamiliar face asks for locations. We LOVE our abandonment's and want to protect them, just as I assume you do too. But with all that said, and I think I can speak for everyone here: we all welcome you, and we all look forward to your contributions to this site! Hope to hear from you soon!

No worries Sarah! Enjoy your stay out here, and if you find anything out here (or anywhere else), don't be shy, post the pics, we'd love to see 'em! :)

Now, out of curiosity, what makes you say she's rude? I think she's just doing her job and there's no reason for you to be upset that she's pointing out the rules of the site to you. It's kind of disrespectful of you to come on here and start complaining about the admins.

You asked a question sarah, she pointed you towards the answer. I don't really understand how that makes her rude. Besides that, honestly, I've only seen one location on this site that was near me and I thought about going to. Though I was advised against that. The majority of my locations I've found by either driving around, using google earth, or other sites. People tend to covet these locations to protect them, that's not something exclusive to this forum. However, some people also have a habit of leaving clues for those who are willing to hunt. There's tons of resources on the internet, it just requires a little effort.

The rules are the rules and they're there for a reason.

If you don't like said rules then perhaps you might be happier somewhere else.

Might I suggest you find another urbex site other than this one.

I just want to emphasis this 100%. I've only been told directly about two locations. Ever. I've been to several places, and many of them I've found completely on my own or with the help of friends. I suggest that if you're interested in locations in Massachusetts, you head over there and start doing some researching and hunting. You're not going to get much out of anyone here. I'm not certain if you noticed, but there really aren't a large amount of posts in the Massachusetts sub forum - meaning not many people here even know of any. So, in this instance, getting upset with the members/admins isn't going to help you.

Alot of it is research and driving around. Sometimes you've heard of a place and get curious check back on it and find it abandoned years later. There are places I grew up knowing and totally forgot about till seeing or hearing about them.

The internet and google can be a really good friend and now there's the added bonus of 3d maps! WOOT, yay for technology B)

PS... I find CD very sweet and helpful all the time! Funny too

Chaindrive is great. This site wouldn't be what it is without her. Get to know the community for a while. These places are precious to those who explore. Be patient. :) be kind. Rewind. Post. We'll warm up to ya.
