I tried loggin in, but it says "invalid username", yet if I leave those fields blank, and click submit, I can log in as a guest, but can possibly change my user ID to my handle here.

What username are you trying? and make sure you don't use a password. Should be able to login with out issue. You can also use a blank username and password and it will let you in with a guest account. Then you can change your ID.
Have camera, will travel.
