[#10226] You are not allowed to use the private messaging system.

i keep getting this error message - even though i have several private messages already. i went back the other day to check some information given to me in a private message and started getting this error message. all the PMs are there - i can see them - but when i click on them im not allowed to see anything - even though they are messages I WROTE or were sent to me! whats going on? was there a site change or some such? any help is appreciated! thanks!

That is our new member policy, its a way for us to be able to see the new members interact onsite and to protect full members from being harassed by spam bots and griefers, but still allowing legitimate new members to post and interact this a way to protect everyone on site from the trolls and bots so that everyone can enjoy the forums

Dan did this after a series of problems that was had from trolls joining and was wreaking havoc with the boards not too long ago. How it works is you are at new member status until you reach 25 ligitimate board posts, actual interaction not just "Hi" to every thread, or if you know or have explored with a full member IRL we can skip the probationary period and make you a full member. If not it just takes 25 posts on the boards. A bit of advice though, posting threads with pictures of your explorations carries a lot of weight. Sorry about the inconvenience, but it is something to protect everyone here.

that said - i understand the need to weed out trolls and the like - but why cant i access messages that ive already received and or sent? this shouldnt have anything to do with the number of posts that i have or have not made. for the record - ive tried to post photos here but flickr photos arent allowed (WHY????)
i guess ill start a photobucket account if need be - but my sets on flickr are already complete and posted and ready for public consumption.
no worries though guys - after august i will have explored with radical ed and hopefully krush - as well as a few others, if not from here then 'that other forum' too. love TWHT and will continue to be a member. ill do what is necessary to crawl my way through the ranks!

About the flickr issue, I have no idea whatsoever the cause of that. Perhaps another member can enlighten me.

still not accepting the flickr code. tried every which way i know how...
spent 2 hours last night creating a post and some galleries - all of them rejected. all im doing is copying and pasting the direct link to the images...
guess its time for a photobucket account!

I have a Flickr account but when I post pics here I just buck up and use my Photobucket account. It's easy. If you just hover over the photo, click the last line of code next to IMG it copies it for you. Then just paste away. That's what I do.

so what am i doing wrong?

im currently uploading damn near a gig to photobucket now - hopefully that will work! FYI - im not a complete idiot/noob! i know enough to not know enough - i know my way around posting photos - just seems like something isnt connecting between TWHT and flickr. having just purchased a new computer recently - i only have my shots from the last 2-3 months on this machine whereas i have thousands on flickr going back a long time. there must be an easier way than me having to download the files from flickr, upload them to photobucket, then place them here...right?
trish - and other bucket users - do you prefer that site to flickr? i ask only because you said you buck up and use that account when posting here instead of flickr. why is that exactly? my thing is - i pay for the pro membership on flickr so that i am not limited to 200 visible photos and i use it as a photo drive of sorts. since i do a fair amount of exposure bracketing i like to keep all those big ass files on their server rather than my hard drive!
anyway - if someone sees something in what i have put up here that would indicate WTF is happening i would appreciate it. until then - guess ill be a buckethead. but for you guys only!!!
