OK, as the resident Coloradan around here I guess I'll be the rep.

These are from my first UrbEx explorations. I went to Leyden (as documented in the post by Laika) and then up to Brighton, about 45 minutes to the east. These two places are about a mile apart from each other.

The first place I deem the Biker House, because there's heavy evidence that it was once inhabited by a biker (Harley stickers, oil stains all over the place)

Condition: Abandoned
Security: None.
Precautions: The front northern corner of the house has collapsed, low potential for squatters.

Overall a pretty cool house. Nothing of note in it, but cool nonetheless. Weird thing is the building still has power running to it.

The next house, just north of the Biker house is a place I call the Hell House.

(forgot to get a decent exterior of the house, sorry)

Condition: Abandoned (?)
Security: None
Precautions: Strong evidence that it's inhabited by a squatter, potentially violent.

This house scared the crap out of me. Right when we walked in my friends and I felt an overwhelming sense of someone/something hostile watching us. There's stong evidence that someone lives there. There are needles strewn all around the house, as well as various other things. In addition, the general consensus between my friends and I is that the place is haunted by something. The autofocus on my camera refused to work even when shining a flashlight in the area I wanted to take a picture of and the battery (only a few months old) I had in died and will no longer hold a charge. We also started to feel an overwhelming pressure the further in we went and even started seeing orbs with our naked eyes.

The house is adjacent to an abandoned mill.

The mill itself is sealed up pretty good. We'll eventually go back there (probably this spring/summer) and see if we can get in. The offices next to the mill, however, is wide open. Nothing special in there, but I did get this picture that's pretty interesting to me, just because of how big and bright the orb is and the odd shape of it. There's no way it could've reflected off of the glass, nor can it be a bug or dust:

The final place is an orphanage/daycare in western Brighton:

Condition: Abandoned
Security: None
Precautions: Squatters, fragile flooring

Kind of a cool place. It's half-destroyed inside by either squatters or other weirdos.

The paintings on the wall make me think it was either an orphanage or a daycare at one point.

We didn't go downstairs. By the time my friends and I got there it was starting to get dark.

There are a few more buildings in the complex, including an old barn where there's distinct evidence that squatters live there. Plus this bird skull!

Reminds me of the Dark Tower.

Anyway, that's it for now. I'll probably head up during the upcoming months as the days grow longer.

More places to come.

Awesome work, and march yourself right back to the Hell House and get an exterior.
Now you can tear a building down, but you can't erase a memory
These houses may look all run down, but they have a value you can't see

Must. Have. That. Skull. I will gladly pay shipping for any skulls you find from any animal in any condition.

Have you been to any of the old mining cabins above Central City?

I will Chain - I'm planning on going back up there as well as several places I know of this coming Summer.

 if it's still there next time I go I'll definitely grab it for you Faust. And I haven't checked those out, but you've piqued my curiosity. Where are they? I've also heard of an old cemetery either there or in Idaho Springs.

Awesome :) Well, as far as I know the mining cabins aren't any big secret. You go up to Central City and IIRC, there was visitor parking areas near the road coming in from the east. The same road that takes you to the parking areas kept going up and back towards south and east of the city. I think it was one of those roads that takes you to the mining cabins. It's basically a gravel trail about one car wide that goes back into the hills towards the silver mines. There was an active mine back in 1986 and some of the cabins were owned by people who used them for hunting/vacation(??), so if it has a padlock, it's probably still in use. That's how I know about them...a friend of mine's uncle owned one and we spent a few days up there. But there's a ton of obviously abandoned cabins scattered around up there...no doors, no windows, etc. I might be able to give you better directions when I get back on a computer that can handle Google Earth.

I'd love to go visit some of these places around Brighton and Colorado in general however I don't have any friends interested in urban exploration and going by yourself to ruins of any sort is a bad idea, not to mention the squatters but I'd probably go if i had people interested in going with me.
