Hi, my name's phillip and i'm from lancaster county pa. just joined the site cause i have a large coliection of photos of abandened places. Most are pics of old railroad, grades bridges and railroad related buildings although i do have several coal mining complexes and a slate mine (althuogh there is not much left of that)i'm not a big fan of trespassing or entering abandoned buildings, but after seeing some of the pics in the site i'm amazed at the stuff within the structures that would otherwise never been seen and agree it was worth the risk. If anyone wants i will upload some of my pics on here so everyone can see, just let me know. if there anything else you want to know buot me just ask.

The light at the end of the tunnel might be an oncoming train.
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electical problem.
you only need two tools in life, duct tape and WD40. If it dosen't move and it should, use WD40. if it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape.
someone has to set a bad exsample. :)

alright here are some pics i took of the Bewind-White Coal Company mine #42 complex in scalp level pa. from what i've read this place is soposed to be the most intact mining complex in pa although it's really starting to show it's age and severel buildings are under self demolition from simple neglet. this place is absolutly amazing! if you ever find yourself near johnstown (scalp level is about 5 miles from there)this is a must stop the township even built an overlook on the side of the mountian for veiwing the mine but never did a thing to the complex. it is so overgrown that it can barely beseen from the overlook even in non-leaf season :-( but the place is not even so much as fence off you can literly pull off the road and walk in all the mine railway track is there complete with alot of mine cars of several different types and around 15 mine motors (locomotives) of different sizes. o.k. now i will post some pics.

pic 1. the interier of the office from the looks of it someone trashed the place and stole all the wiring out of it. the door on the right is the safe, writing above the door reads "The Berwind-White Coal Mining Company".
pic 2.the rotory dumper, this was used to get the coal out of the mine cars so it could be processed and loaded into railroad cars. the carswould bebacked in and then turned upside down to unload the car.
pic 3. there was also this track located to the left of pic 2 and located in the same building, this is where they cuold unload the mine cars in the tradidional manner by using side-dump or bottom-dump mine cars.
