I guess I forgot to post an introduction. My name is Joe but I also answer to Faust. I've been living in the PNW near Seattle since 1993. I'm originally from Clifton NJ. I spent several years in Denver and too many in Des Moines. I did some exploring as a kid in NJ, but I didn't get into photography until after I turned 18. I am currently working as a freelance photographer/videographer/assistant editor. If anyone in the Seattle area is willing to share some places to explore around here I'd love it. I've been digging around and there doesn't seem to be a lot around the Seattle area. If you haven't already purchased a copy of Weird Washington, I'll save you the trouble. It's a joke. Looks like I'm going to be headed back to NJ for 10 days on the 17th of Jan 2011, so I'm open to any suggestions on what's worth exploring. I'm currently going through my Weird NJ books & mags and trying to cross reference info from the internet to see what's gone and what's still there. I'll be all over the state. My brother lives near Philly, but we're also planning to head north and go into NYC for a day or two, so anything in between is fair game. You're welcome to check out my photography portfolios here: http://www.faustomatic.com

How do I live without the ones I love? / Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned / Place and time always on my mind / I have so much to say but you're so far away
"its hard to call these buildings abandoned when we have all but abandoned them."
Check out my galleries.
CRAZY? WHO are YOU calling CRAZY? YOU wouldn't KNOW CRAZY if CHARLES MANSON WAS EATING FRUIT LOOPS ON YOUR FRONT PORCH!

I checked out your link earlier today, faust, and you take great pics.
Our resident NJ denizen, abandonednj, will probably be the guy to suggest places in NJ you may want to visit. Or, go to ABNF (link top left of your screen) and see if there are some things there you'd like to see.
And, welcome!

Now you can tear a building down, but you can't erase a memory
These houses may look all run down, but they have a value you can't see

Thanks guys
Checking out the link now. I think that's one of the first ones I bookmarked a couple days ago when I found this forum. The last couple days have been sensory overload and frustration. Overload because of all the great stuff and frustration because some of the ones I really wanted to get to are gone. Grey Gardens has been renovated, Greystone was leveled, and the power station in Jersey City is apparently being worked on since it's now a on the national registry of historical buildings. Anyone got any info on the current state of the Colt manufacturing plant in Patterson NJ? I found a lot of historical info but I wasn't finding anything on it's current state. Last I read was about three years ago and it was sitting abandoned with some rather unfriendly sounding squatters. If it's like that now I can probably get around grumpy homeless guys with beer & sandwiches.

Thanks
I wish all the UE sites were this friendly! I just wish I had more to share on my end. Seattle/Everett WA seems pretty empty as far as stuff to explore. I added a a few photos to my gallery though. Not much, but better than nothing LOL! http://thewallshavet...lbum__album__56
