These pics were taken before the mall closed:

these were NOT taken by me, i thought they were interesting, this was the place to hang out from the 70's to the late 90's when the mall started to decline, from the newer mall built across town called Bay Park Square

Port Plaza Mall
1977-2006
Green Bay WI
opened with 2 anchors : JCPenny, and Pranges (Yonkers)
added the Boston Store (IDK when)
the last store to close with the mall: JCPenny

BTW, for the Pabst Brewery pics, i have an update:

The old Pabst Brewery is now demolished and a part of the Interstate 94 system in Milwaukee WI. (no pics, it's an interstate :P )

Port Plaza Mall (Washington Commons) is now slated for Demolition ( :( ), Schriber Foods-the worlds largest processed cheese manufacturer- has purchased the property, along with the Days Inn property on the west side of the mall. They will be building an approximately 3 story office complex, and 2 story tech center on the other side of the site from the HQ office complex.

Bummer.
Now you can tear a building down, but you can't erase a memory
These houses may look all run down, but they have a value you can't see

Demolition Update:

The mall portion and the JC penny portion are still in place, the contract to demolish them has just been pushed through to a Minnesota based firm. Schriber Foods has also purchased the former Days Inn hotel location that was right next to the mall, that building has been torn down.

Whilst a step in the right direction for Green Bay, many people will only have their memories of that mall remaining soon.

I've heard of this place before. For some reason I thought it was already demolished though. That's a shame.

Yes, depending on if they have the space and the budget in the two new buildings, it may be more people.

This is actually a step forward in our downtown, it's been choking for years, then the mall closing was pretty much the final nail in the coffin, then everything started to leave.

Schriber building these two buildings will more than likely stimulate downtown growth, that's been stagnant since the early 2000s, then really stagnant since 2006 (when the mall finally closed), As of right now, the mall has been torn down (the main mall/JC Penny building), but the two anchors that used to be there, were converted into other uses, the Yonkers building, got redone into condos (one part of it), and the other portion of the building is being turned into The Greater Green Bay Children's Museum, and the old Boston Store (stagnant from 1999-2005 i believe), was converted into the Baylake Bank Center, which currently houses several businesses.
