On a historic family cemetery hunt with my dad yesterday, we drove along hwy 62 from Georgetown to Cynthiana and there were TONS of abandoned houses and buildings. One in particualr in in a preserve .. there is a gate, but it looks easy to get into. Also several places in town in Cythiana.
Just wanted to share

Never been on that section of 62 before. I usually avoid the old houses if I think there's a farmer around with a shotgun! There's some places on the drive to Stanford.

lol, yeah.. that is why I just wanted to share.... didn't want to mess with the shotgun carrying farmers

Yeah, I'd heard stories from a friend who was born and raised in the backwoods part of Kentucky. Be VERY careful, the way she tells it the copperheads and water moccasins are more friendly than some of the locals.

That's interesting to know. I remember when I was in IL for job training, they have a creek that runs behind the facility, & told us not to go into the creek because in the summertime, there would be water moccasins, & they bite. But of course she was the "Safety counselor".

She is correct, water moccasins are extremely poisonous and extremely aggressive. And they tend to attack in swarms, maybe its just I am chicken shit and terrified of anything wriggly and scaly, but I have no interest in testing the accuracy. That was my one requirement for exploring.......I want somewhere abandoned......NOT full of snakes.

BTW, anyone know of places in the Louisville area? I will be there and possibly, down toward the Tennessee border in Albany Ky. I REALLY wanna do some exploring along with the tour of Waverly
