I used to have that same Sony W55 model. Great little camera till I slipped on some ice and broke the lens while trying to take a picture. Replaced it a year or so later with a Canon sd1400 which I really like but not as much as my 40D.

Yeah, the Sony W55 is pretty handy, and still takes fairly nice pictures. It's the first camera I ever got, and I still use it today.

It will. I expect to see more used mk4 bodies for less showing up around March and April. I'm holding out til they hit around $2000-$2500. I think between now and then I'm going to try to sell my lenses. And pick up a 24/1.4L & 16-35L.

What lenses are you thinking about selling? Picked up a used 16-35L a few months back and I love it.

I have an 80-200L f/2.8 "magic drainpipe" that's missing the auto/manual switch. Works like a dream, looks like shite. A 20-35L f/2.8 that is working fine but starting to sound weird. I think it needs to be taken apart by a pro and cleaned/tightened up. And I have a 28-70L f/2.8 that is in perfect workin order. All these lenses work and have clean glass, but the drainpipe needs a switch unless you want to continue flicking it with a paperclip and the 20-35 is going to need some internal cleaning and possibly an AF motor down the road. An AF motor is about $200. The other option is to sell them to someone who wants to shoot video since you will never use the AF for video on a canon DSLR. Well, never unless you want really bad video.

So, it looks like summer 2013 we're going to try to go to Istanbul (not Constantinople) for our first vacation outside the US. I now have the green light to upgrade all my camera gear this year. Woot! If anyone is interested in the lenses I posted let me know and I'll explain in detail any issues you're going to be dealing with. In all honesty, they're still working and they're sharp clean lenses...just old. Also, Ive noticed that I tend to shoot wide angle shots from very close range so I'm looking to sell what I have to get lenses that fit my style more closely. I want a 24/1.4L and a 16-35L. I might pick up a 70-200 f/4 to cut some weight. The 80-200 takes beautiful photos but it's a beast to carry around. I bought it for shooting concerts but I've only used it a couple times. Anymore I prefer to be in close or just skip the shot if I can't get close. Anyway, if someone were interested in all three I'd be willing to cut some kind of deal. I also have a lensbaby 2.0 I'm probably going to sell. It's a fun lens but it's kind of like a fisheye lens...you don't use it for everything.

Ha! The switch is missing and they don't make replacements anymore so you have to use a paperclip to switch it from manual to auto. I leave it in auto and have gaff tape wrapped around the barrel. I put it in manual focus once since I bought it because my boss borrowed it for a video shoot. If you can find a switch it'll cost about a hundred bucks. At least that's what I've found. Not worth it. Paperclips are free.

I'm so ready for an upgrade. I think a Nikon 5100 would bump me up a bit. Now... just have to save more..

Heh, this thread has really taken off since I almost stopped coming here :P

Since my last update, I've purcahsed a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS Mk I and after that's paid off this month, will be acquiring a Canon 50 f/1.4. Movin' up in the world of drift photography (the motorsport, not the lifestyle ha) and need the gear as such. Bought a 77mm B+W Slimline CPL for both the 70-200 and my Canon 10-22 and it was some of the best $80 I've ever spent.
