I think it'd be interesting to compare and contrast what cameras we're all using on our expeditions. I use the following:

Sony CyberShot DSC-W100 (8.1 MP, standard point-and-click camera)

JVC Everio GZ-MG130U 30GB Hybrid HDD camcorder (for my video expeditions)

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi (12.1 MP D-SLR) with:

- Canon EFS 18-55mm lens with image stabilization
- Canon EFS 55-250mm zoom lens with image stabilization

I'll be getting a Tamron AF 19-35mm F/3.5-4.5 wide-angle lens sometime in the near future. First priority was buying a 1TB Seagate external drive to back up all my photos

My dog ate my Kodak Easyshare (that reminds me...I have some pics on there of an abandoned motel) so now I'm using an older Canon digital.

Man, your Kodak Easyshare looks much like mine did. Your Sony scares me though. Too many moving parts. :D

No way could I ever figure out how to use that!

Looks like it would take the awesomist pics though.

I agree about the tripod thing. Ideally, I'd like the tripod that Motts over at opacity.us uses, a Bogen/Manfrotto 3001 Series. Those are a tad pricey, though.

As far as tripods, you don't have to spend alot of cash for a good one. I bought mine at an auction, only a couple years old and works fine. Another good thing to have is a remote for the camera!

I got a Fuji Fine Pix 700S had it for years works great for me it was a great investment.

I had to grab my camera just to remember exactly what it is. Fuji FinePix E900. Its pretty snazzy, but I'd like to step up to a Nikon D-something or other.

If your gonna look at Nikons, check out the D-80, it is amazing, 10.2 mp and it will take great pics in the dead of night.
