I don't think that his relatives were located.

It is a beautiful place.

Yes it is, it is such a shame to see it goin to waste......too bad it isn't being sold then at least something could be saved of this man's story......this is such a haunting place, even in pictures........It has been stuck in my mind since last night when I first saw it

Ya think the house would be big enough for 3 of us? I would so grab it too. The colors are....uuhhhhh........THEY SUCK, but the place is gorgeous and has such a story to tell. And has there been any luck in locating the man's relatives? It is heartbreaking to think of a person's entire life being left to ruin. I just hope that something can be done to preserve this place. This is truly a case for Abandoned But Not Forgotten. This poor man definitely needs to be remembered.

I reached out to the 2 family members that I did find, and received no response from either. I think about the Green House and its owner often, and wonder what another year open to the elements has done.

Can you go back and visit it?
Now you can tear a building down, but you can't erase a memory
These houses may look all run down, but they have a value you can't see

Sure. It will most likely be fall before I have a chance to make the drive up, but I'll add it to my list. My husband and I have a fairly big year of exploring slated for 2010... we just returned from England and while there explored the ruins of a castle and found an abandoned cathedral, but neither were very exciting from an exploration standpoint because they were open to the public. We're going to Florida next month, and will try to track down at least one abandoned place to explore there. In August we'll be in California and have several places we're going to check out. There are also several abandoned houses on US 23, and at least 2 more we saw on the way to the Green House last year that were clearly abandoned as well.

Given that list, the Green House will work out best in the fall. It's also oppressively hot in there and full of bees, so fall would work out best anyway.

Yes, definitely would like an update. Of course greatest scenario would be that it is no longer abandoned, but........ Have seen too many similar situations to that place

I like the detail here - nice!

This looks like a very cool house to take a look at.

Kinda've like this place in Plainfield I call "Camby House, it house itself looks abandoned as you can see, but the land is still being occupied by the evil cows behind the place, it sits in the country where no cars really drive by that much but I went in and got a shot of the kitchen, but when I saw vehicle approach from the kitchen window, I got the heck out of dodge, course my vehicles out on the road since there was no place to put it out of site. I didn't go back in needless to say.

That's part of why I got a bicycle and finally found a rack for the car......vehicles stick out, but how often do people give more than a glance to someone on a bike with a backpack? And a bike will easily fit into nearly and open door. That and I really need the excercise

I WANT THAT HOUSE. As I'm sure af wants it too. Our sense of what we appreciate seems to go hand and hand.

AND, af's excuse for his car sitting on the side of the road is he's having car trouble and looking for a cellphone signal.

Best excuse in the world.

No prob, I have been in similar situations and I try not draw any attention or let anyone know I'm there. And doesn't it always seem like you never see another car or person for hours, until the moment you see the place you wanna explore and are trying scope it out or get up to it
